About the Author

Kathy Deinhardt Hill was raised in northern Idaho. After graduating from the University of Idaho in 1975 with a degree in journalism, she began looking for a job. On her way to Boise for an interview, she stopped in McCall. She never left. She began teaching English at McCall-Donnelly High School in the fall of 1975 and is still there.

Deinhardt Hill's first book Spirits of the Salmon River was published in 2000. Since then, she started her own publishing company, Big Mallard Books, which produces books about Idaho. She is currently working on a history of Idaho's executions.

She is supported wholeheartedly by her husband Bob, who willingly participates in every adventure she plans. They live south of McCall where they watch the sun rise over Jughandle Mountain every day. In their next lives, they would like to be farmers.
